Captains Shootout

On Sun 21 May, Heydon Grange held its annual Men's Shoot-Out for a field of 10 players invited by the current Captain Malcolm Knobel-Forbes.  The 'elite' field of 10 - all playing off scratch - started on the first hole of the Essex course with one player being eliminated hole by hole leaving two to contend the 9th hole for the Shoot-Out honours.  In what is always a tense affair, par golf is difficult to acheive but matters were complicated this year by weather which started bad and got progressively worse.  Finishing in a howling gail and driving rain, Steve Lang just managed to hold off Ian Brushett both bogeying the final hole but Steve winning the sudden-death decider.
