On a day when the scoring was quiet good despite the early drizzle, new member Steve Durrant secured the Linton Trophy.  In the Nick Willys Trophy (for older guys :) ) Bob Starr's 40 pts total was reduced to 39 when he signed for a higher gross than he actually scored - but this was still good enough to keep him ahead of a close chasing pack.

Notable performances included:

  • a near ace for Roy Bell on the Essex 4th - though a two on the Cambs 2nd would have been worth about £260 more Roy!
  • Chris Collinson - inspired by his recent ace on the same hole, shanked a beauty across the 3rd green (yes - the third!).  A quote from his playing partner Trevor Clifton said it all "even I haven't been there"
  • Steve King's deuce also on the Essex 4th - wrong one again Steve!
  • Pete Garland's straight face when he thought he might be DQ'd for a wrong score
  • Captain John Black's "if only I hadn't put it in the lake"
