1) What is the Roll-Up? | The roll-up is a stableford format competition run on Saturdays and Sundays. It consists of a daily competition on Saturday and a separate daily competition on Sunday. Cards are also entered into a ladder (one per player per weekend max) where prizes are based on the highest average score over the season. The ladder competition runs in two seasons per year based on the clock changes. |
2) Entry fees | £2 per player per day – use one of the competition envelopes and mark it with the date, your name and whether Sat or Sun. Then put the envelope (complete with money) into the competitions’ box in the club-house. |
3) Tee times | Arrange these yourself through Saleem – unless it is played in conjunction with a club competition where there is an existing draw. Saleem will normally keep tee times from 9:00 - 9:16 reserved for Roll-Up purposes for those without pre-arranged partners. |
4) Cards | Get your card signed by a member, sign it yourself and put the completed card into the competitions box. Although it is a stableford competition, mark your gross score on each hole where you score points – to allow checking. |
5) Courses | This is advised on the day – if in doubt, ask Saleem. The Roll-Up will normally be over the same courses on both week-end days. |
6) What if there’s a club competition? | The Roll-Up will only operate when the formats are compatible – ie when the club competition is medal format or stableford off full handicap. To enter the Roll-Up on competition days, you must also enter the club competition. |
7) Tees | Use yellow tees except when the Roll-Up is also played on a club competition day (where white tees will be used). In this instance, white tees will be used throughout that weekend. |
8) Handicaps | Play off your current club handicap. No adjustments are made to playing handicaps based on winning anything in the Roll-Up. Any particularly good cards will be passed to the Handicap Secretary for ‘General Play’ considerations. |
9) Gimmes? | There are none. |
10) Ladder qualification | 1. Every Roll-Up card will be entered into the ladder but if you enter on Saturday and Sunday, only the best card will be entered into the ladder. 2. To qualify for a ladder prize, you must submit at least 10 cards. Prizes are based on the average score over the 10 cards entered. If you enter more than 10 cards your ladder standing would be based on the average stableford score over the best 10 cards, e.g. lower scores would be knocked out. 3. If you enter the Roll-Up but fail to submit a valid card, a ladder score of zero will be assumed if that is your only Roll-Up card for the weekend. |
11) Prizes | · Saturday competition – winner takes 75% of the pot taken on that day. The remainder is ‘rolled-up’ for the ladder. · Sunday competition – winner takes 75% of the pot taken on that day. The remainder is ‘rolled-up’ for the ladder. · Ladder: at the end of the summer or winter season, prizes are awarded from the ladder pot as follows: 1st: 40%, 2nd: 25%, 3rd: 15%: 4th 12%: 5th 8% |
