Turkey Trot

Last Sunday dawned frosty and cold – the perfect day for the annual Heydon Grange Cross Country Turkey Trot sponsored by Russell Meats of Meldreth.

Over a route on the Essex course the teams of three fortified by frequent visits by the drinks cart found the 4 holes which were played twice from two different tee boxes a challenge. Former ladies Captain Elaine Knoble-Forbes emerged the winner of the Ladies prize and Kevin Power lead his Team of Ivan Drury & Stella Bore to the Team prize with a nett 91 and also scooped the Men’s prize with a best score of day nett 45.

Russell Meats presented vouchers for £40.00 each to Elaine and Kevin and the winner Team went home with £60.00 of vouchers between them. Two further vouchers of £20.00 each were included in the annual Turkey Trot Christmas raffle raised £180.00 for the Captain’s Charities. Howard Parsons was closest with guess the weight of the cake (4 lb 1/4 oz) with a guess of 4 lb. Thanks again to Russell Meats for their kind sponsorship.
