Comp Procedures
Home

We have had a number of very unfortunate instances lately where players have been disqualified from competitions for failing to comply with the requirements. Whilst the decisions seem particularly hard, the committee take no pleasure in disqualifying anybody but we have to apply the strict rules to every player as the fairest means of deciding competitions.

As a reminder the player is responsible for:
  • Ensuring they have the requisite number of qualifying rounds during the past 12 months before entering.
  • Signing their name in the Competition Book before playing the competition.
  • Putting their money in the Competition Box (or pre-paying as the ladies do) before the competition.
  • Putting their correct handicap on the card before submission.
  • Ensuring that they and their marker have both signed the card.  Pairs competitions may require both players to sign the card.
  • Ensure that their Gross Score is marked on the card for each hole.
  • Check that they have signed for the correct Gross Score on each hole before submission.  At the end of the game we recommend you get your marker to read to you what Gross Score they have for you on each hole.
  • Put your scorecard in the competitions box.
Failure to do any of the above regrettably will result in disqualification from the competition.

If the above has been carried out
players cannot be disqualified for:
  • Putting the wrong Net Score on your card.
  • Calculating the points incorrectly.
  • Wrongly adding up the shots taken or points received.
If a player puts too high a handicap on their card they will be disqualified if it affects the number of shots received; if they put too low a handicap, their score will be based on the handicap written on the card.

We hope that this clarifies the procedures.
